Ron Clark, President and CEO of Energywise began his career in energy efficiency in 1982.  While going to school, studying passive solar design at Red Rock Community College in Golden, Colorado, he took a job with EMC Engineers, an  energy management consulting company. 

He worked there for two years, as a technician, doing energy surveys for U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife facilities primarily on the East Coast.  In addition to doing field surveys, Ron did computer analysis for energy performance and wrote comprehensive reports detailing findings and recommended energy conservation opportunities (ECO's)

In 1995, Ron founded Energywise in New York State.  It was here that he started doing comprehensive building diagnostics and testing buildings for air leakage and doing combustion testing.  It was then that "Building Science" was added to his repertoire of skills.

While in New York, Ron participated in many activities that demonstrated his well rounded knowledge of building science.  Those activities included being an original founding member and eventually president of the Building Performance Contractors Association.

As a principle of BPCA, Ron was also a panel member that guided the creation of the Home Performance with Energy Star and the Energy Star New Homes Programs. 

Ron was also the designer and construction manager of a green building, prior to the creation of any stadards for such.  Photos of this building can be seen below.

Ron held a Home Energy Raters certification that allowed him to certify a dozen or more homes as Energy Star Rated Homes.

While running Energywise, Ron worked with several contrators that provided building performance surveys and energy retrofits (upgrades) to homes under the Home Performance with Energy Star Program.
